Abstract

In crystallizing urea cyanuric acid or zinc cyanurate is added to the urea solution to obtain the latter in the form of small cubes. Suitable methods of preparing cyanuric acid and zinc cyanurate are described. In an example, 0.5 per cent. of zinc cyanurate is added to a saturated aqueous urea solution at 50 DEG C. containing 5g/kilogram of solution of ammonia. Urea in sandy form is obtained on cooling, and the mother-liquor used again, without the addition of more zinc cyanurate, to disolve more urea.
