589,170. Control systems for heating resistances. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 16, 1945, No. 6666. Convention date, March 17, 1944. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] In order to limit the maximum load of an electric range and a water heater, interlocking mechanism is provided between the multipleposition switches controlling the range and the switch controlling the water heater, which prevents the water heater being energized when the " oven " switch 20 is in any of its " on " positions or when a switch 16 controlling a high-capacity heater is in any of its higher " switch positions. The spindles 16b, 20b of the switches 16, 20 carry cams 31, 33 operating in apertures 32, 34 of a slide-bar 25 which is spring-urged to the right to close the heater switch 23. The bar 25 is thus moved to the left when switch 20 is in any of its " on " positions or when switch 16 is in any of its three highest '' on " positions, thereby opening switch 23.
