Abstract
1,122,772. Photo-electric remote actuating device. D. F.G. JUNIPER. March 16, 1967 [Feb. 4, 1966], No.4918/66. Heading G1A. The supply to an electrical load is switched on or off by light responsive means controlled by a beam the position of which may be varied by a deflector. The deflector may be a pivoted mirror capable of being set in one of a number of predetermined positions by a cam, and the light source may be in the load switching assembly, or adjacent the mirror in the cam control unit. The switching assembly housing may comprise a number of slots for the admission of light corresponding to the various beam positions and control of a bathroom heater is exemplified. Motor driven arrangements in which a photo-cell hunts for the beam are described with reference to the control of a selector switch and to the setting of a variable impedance, and movement or release of the mirror by a fusible link or bi-metal strip in an alarm arrangement is also described. In the impedance setting device the beam is deflected around an annular track. The use of a separate photo-cell for each position of the beam is also suggested.
