Abstract

624,259. Electric hot-plate. JELSON ELECTRIC, Ltd., and MOULSON, J. P. June 21, 1947, No. 16423. [Class 39(iii)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVII] A hot-plate 1 has on its underside - two sets of differently rated heating elements and a twin thermostatic switch (see Group XXXVII), one thermostatic switch A cutting out the first set of heating elements 2 upon a predetermined simmering temperature being exceeded and the second thermostatic switch B cutting out the remaining set of heating elements 3 upon a predetermined boiling temperature being exceeded. A simmering temperature is finally maintained by means of a handoperated switch S, one setting of which removes the higher-wattage heating element 3 from the circuit or a second setting of which connects in series the two sets of heating elements and their thermostatic switches. There may be one or more auxiliary heating elements not thermostatically controlled. Specification 571,136, [Group XXXVII], is referred to.
