Abstract

588,516. Electric heating resistances. BESCOL (ELECTRIC), Ltd., and ANNABLE, C. B. Feb. 26, 1945. No. 4735. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric immersion heater comprises a wire 1 wound on an insulating former 2, e.g., of mica or micanite, sandwiched between two insulating layers 3 and 4, the whole being enclosed in a metal sheath 5 of elongated cross section, and bent into a loop shape. Each edge of the sheath is shaped or displaced as at 5a and 5b, so that one edge of one of the insulating layers is 'deflected to make contact with the opposite edge of the other layer as at 4a and 3a respectively. This prevents the wire touching the metal sheath at any point along its edge. Various shapes are described for the edges of the sheath, in addition to that shown in Fig. 3
