Abstract

637,452. Electric heating resistances. SLETNER, P. G. May 8, 1947, No. 12476. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1943. [Class 39 (iii) ] An electric heating element comprises a heating wire 2 disposed in a continuous meander over one face of a strip of material 1, the wire being connected at spaced intervals to supply conductors 4 disposed on the opposite face of the strip. According to one construction, metallic clips 5 are bent over the edges of the strip 1 to connect the heating wire with the supply conductors 4. The resistance wire may be woven on to the strip. Alternatively the strip may have serrated edges by which the wire is wound to form the said meanders, the wire being connected at intervals with the supply conductors through apertures in the strip. The strip 1 may be woven from asbestos, cotton, paper or the like. The Specification as open to public inspection under Sect. 91 also describes an electric heating element in which a heating wire is wound over both faces of a woven strip of material, current supply conductors being woven within the said strip and each conductor being connected alternatively to the wire on the opposite faces. This subject-matter does not appear in the specification as accepted.
