Abstract

914,973. Electric heaters for drums or barrels. ELECTROTHERMAL ENGINEERING Ltd. July 13, 1961 [July 20, 1960], No. 25370/60. Class 39 (3). An electric heater for tubs or barrels of viscous liquids comprises a heating element enclosed between flexible metal strips 1, 2 which are formed into a major part of a circle and held in position around a tub or barrel by a spring 5 connected between radial flanges 3, 4 which extend outwards from the ends of the strips. The heater is fitted by forcing apart a pair of handles 6, 7. The heating element is a single tape made of knitted or woven resistance wire which is stitched to a strip of glass cloth to form several spaced parallel runs along the length of the strip and the stitched assembly is sandwiched between further layers of glass cloth before enclosure between the strips 1 and 2. The ends of the element terminate in box 8.
