[Class, 78(i)] In an apparatus for the disposition of flue dust after collection in a separator 2, Fig. 1, dust first gravitates through a duct 5 into a comparatively large diameter watersealed bell 7, Fig. 6, and then accumulates in a water receptacle 12 which is periodically flushed through a drain 24. Flushing may be effected by the discharge of water through a nozzle 37 controlled by a solenoidactuated valve 38 and water may simultaneously be discharged through a nozzle 39. A balanced reticulated gate 41 pivoted at 42 serves to retain the larger particles until the gate swings down and closes a switch 48 to operate the solenoid valve 38. A baffle 25 terminates with its edge just above the normal water level of the receptacle but is submerged during the flushing operation to exercise a draft action tending to syphon the water out of the receptacle.
