Abstract
588,071. Conveyers. LOGAN, W. A. Jan. 29, 1945, No. 2205. [Class 78(i)] A device for aligning the hingedly connected sections of a mining conveyer in position adjacent the working face comprises a framework adapted to be pulled lengthwise of the sections after an end section has been positioned adjacent the working face, said framework being provided with two sets of rollers, one adapted to bear on the working face and the other to bear on the side of a conveyer section remote from the working face, and with a roller or wedge device spaced further from the working face than said sets of rollers for wedging successive sections into alignment with the first section as the framework is pulled along the face. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the end conveyer section 1 which has been moved by hand to its new position adjacent the coal face, is embraced by a framework 4 provided with rollers 5 which rub against the coal face, fenders 6 which maintain the section the correct distance from the face, spring- influenced rollers 7 which hold the section against the fenders, and a roller 12 which as the framework is hauled along the face by a rope 11, wedges successive sections into alignment with the section 1, Specification 559,177, [Group XXI], is referred to.
