Abstract

378,512. Scoop apparatus for transporting material. BROWN, S. WALTON-, Seghill Hall, Dudley, Northumberland. May 14, 1931, No. 14333. [Class 78 (iv).] Scoop-type loading or conveying systems for use in mines are provided with a pair of spaced guides fixed on the mine floor across the direction of the line of advance of the working face to guide the scoops, the guides being advanced as required as the coal face recedes. Rail, girder, wood or like guides m\ m<2> are secured by uprights o passed through apertures in the guides which are parallel to the working face c. When the working face has reached the position c<1> the guide m<1> is moved to the chain line position so that the scoop d is again guided parallel to and in proximity to the coal face. Ropes or cables may be used instead 'of rigid guides. The guides may be advanced singly or both together. Lateral ramps, wearing strips, rollers, &c. may be fitted to the guides. Specification 352,930 is referred to.
