Class 68(1) [Also in Group XXX] In a mineral-mining apparatus in which one or more mineral-winning machines 4 are reciprocated along the fixed structure, i.e. a series of interconnected troughs, of a conveyer 1 by haulage means 5, 5a, 6, 6a secured to the fixed structure, the fixed structure is slidably mounted at one end and near the other end on guide beams 9, 9a rigidly secured in the workings being excavated transversely of the conveyer so that only lateral movement of the structure may occur. The haulage means 7 and drive means 5, 5a, 6, 6a are disposed between the beams 9, 9a which are secured to props 10 by either screw-threaded members 11 such as turnbuckles or by hydraulically actuated piston-cylinder units provided with pressure relief means so that said units may yield on excessive forces being applied to the structure. The beam 9 passes through a tunnel formed in a trough element and a roller 12 vertically disposed within the tunnel bears against the beam.
