Abstract

A pressure-sensitive adhesive flexible sheet comprises a backing material with a coating containing 100 parts by weight of polyvinyl butyral resin having a content of 0-5 per cent of polyvinyl acetate and 8-13 per cent of polyvinyl alcohol and 67-230 parts of a plasticiser which is a solvent for the resin below 45 DEG C. The Specification defines "active" plasticisers including dibutyl phthalate, diethyl phthalate, dibutyl sebacate, dibutyl adipate, dibutyl azelate and castor oil, and "semi-active" plasticisers including hydrogenated methyl abietate. A greater proportion of the latter type is required. Some of the polyvinyl butyral resin may be replaced by wood rosin, polyvinyl acetate or polyvinyl butyral resin having a higher polyvinyl alcohol content.
