586,857. Dental clamps. KARLSTROM, K. A. S. Aug. 28, 1944, Nos. 16305 and 16306. Convention dates, Sept. 4, 1943, and July 3, 1944. [Class 81 (ii)] A dental clamp comprises jaws 10, 11 connected to a wire spring yoke 8, 9, preferably of steel, the resilient middle portion thereof being formed as a spiral wound closed coil 12. As shown, the legs of the spring' are bent upwards, and the coil is in a plane parallel to that of the jaws, but it may be in the same plane as, or in a plane disposed at an angle to that of the jaws. In other modifications, the coil is of rectangular shape, and the legs of the yoke may cross so that the coil is compressed when the jaws are opened. A shallow coil may be curved to lie on the convex surface of the gums. Holes 5, 6 are provided in the jaws for the insertion of the ends of a pair of tongs.
