Abstract
633,401. Flexible drawing-rulers. BARNES, E. Sept. 17, 1947, No. 25427. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1946. [Class 97 (iii)] In a curve-ruler of the kind comprising in combination a thin band of hard elastic material, e.g. spring steel and a bar-shaped body made of flexible but inelastic material, the bar-shaped inelastic material 2, Fig. 1, is of lathlike form and is disposed with its side faces parallel to the sides of the band and with clearance in a guide consisting of a correspondingly flattened helical coil of wire 3 whose windings are soldered, welded or otherwise connected to the elastic band 1. The elastic band is provided at each end with sockets 4, Fig. 3, containing helical springs 5 bearing against the end of the inelastic bar 3 and screws may be provided for affixing the bar 3 in the sockets 4 when the ruler is in its adjusted position. The sockets 4 may be provided with spring-controlled pins 7 to facilitate attaching the ends of the ruler to the drawing surface.
