Wound-closing appliances.-A clasp for closing wounds consists of a metal strip or bent wire loop 1 having pins 3 for engaging the flesh at each end and projections 4 which are pressed towards one another by hand or by forceps, pincers, &c., to release the clasp from the wound. The projections 4 may be situated close together or at some distance apart and may in one form, Fig. 9, be obtained by bending back the ends of the clasp. Loops 2 are provided at the ends. Reference is made to a device for removing the ordinary type of clamp from wounds, consisting of a pair of tongs with rounded shanks and pointed ends adapted to engage the loops on the ends of the clamp and force them apart, releasing the pins from the flesh.
