Abstract

586,723. Two-part couplings. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. May 8, 1944, No. 8734. Convention date, May 31, 1943. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A contact for switches (see Group XXXVII) or plug-couplings, comprises parts respectively of low and high resistance, the latter consisting of sintered or laminated metal. Plug-pins 58, 60 enter separate socket-compartments and slidingly engage fixed contacts 40, 42 each comprising a high-resistance part 44 and a low resistance part 46, whereby the resistance is gradually cut out on insertion. The sintered portion may be porous at its free end and dense at its junction with the low-resistance part, Fig. 5 (not shown), or the laminated part may comprise metals of different resistance, Fig. 6 (not shown), or metal plates may be interleaved with resistive material, Fig. 7 (not shown).
