Abstract

586,498. Hand grenades &c. JEFFERIS, M. R., MACRAE, R. S., SINCLAIR, A. L., HARTLEY, H. K., and KAY BROS., Ltd. Dec. 6, 1944, No. 24444. [Class 9 (i)] A hand grenade or light bomb according to Specification 572,542 comprises a sealing plug g and a washer 3 for the frangible explosive container b, the sealing plug having a cavity for the reception of an igniter unit i and being screwed in the neck t of the container into which the handle s also screws. The igniter unit comprises a detonator cap holder i, a time fuze member j and a detonator k. A concussion explosive primer pellet 2 is fitted in a primer tube f. A two-part casing o as described in the prior Specification is provided with a stirrup q for carrying the grenade. The container b is in two halves cemented at c. The bore of the sealing plug is provided with longitudinal gas escape channels for the burning fuze.
