Abstract
In a method of coating a surface with silver comprising spraying said surface with a dispersed mixture of separately-formed aqueous silvering and reducing solutions, as described in Specification 524,753, the silvering solution contains 1.3 to 3 per cent. silver nitrate. The silver nitrate solution may contain ammonia. The reducing solution may contain one of the group-Mg SO4, Na2SO4, K2SO4 and (NH4)2 SO4. A preferred silvering solution contains 2.5 per cent. AgNO3 and 1.6 to 2.5 per cent. of ammonia, and a preferred reducing solution contains 1.25 per cent. hydrazine sulphate and 0.31 per cent. of Mg SO4.
