Abstract

537,987. Mirrors. PEACOCK LABORATORIES, Inc. Jan. 15, 1940, No. 877. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1939. [Class 82 (ii)] A solution of silver nitrate and ammonium hydroxide is sprayed by a jet of compressed air simultaneously with a solution of hydroxylamine sulphate, nitrate, hydrate or hydrochloride, on to an inclined surface, on which a film of silver is deposited. Equal quantities of the two solutions are maintained in two adjacent vessels, and are fed by gravity to a compressed air atomizing nozzle which directs the spray on to the glass or other surface. The solutions need not be atomized but may be directed in the form of streams against the glass. Other transparent materials obtained from synthetic resins or cellulose derivatives, or opaque materials, may be similarly coated.
