Abstract

585,517. Fuel or oil tanks. WORCESTER WINDSHIELDS & CASEMENTS, Ltd., and DEAKIN, T. M. Feb. 23, 1945, No. 4533. [Class 69 (i)] A fuel or oil tank consists of a metal shell 1 to which perforated flanged baffle plates 2 of similar cross section are secured by bracing members 6, which are spaced around the periphery of the plates and at right angles to them. Each Y-shaped bracing member comprises two channel sections 7 and 8 welded together at their narrow portions 15, 16 and having main diverging portions 13, 14 and flanges 9, 10, 11 and 12. The shell is welded to the flanges 11 and 12 and the baffle plates are bolted or rivetted to flanges 9 and 10. In a modification each baffle plate 2 is provided with two lateral flanges extending in opposite directions which are bolted to the bracing members 6, additional reinforcing plates being fitted at these points of attachment.
