Abstract

567,382. Tanks. WORCESTER WINDSHIELDS & CASEMENTS, Ltd., and DEAKIN, T. M. July 16, 1943, No. 11578. [Class 69 (i)] Relates to fuel tanks for aircraft &c. with opposite side or end walls connected by tie rods, and comprises means for fixing the ends of the rods. In a rectangular tank of aluminium &c. with dished ends 2 welded to the body and stiffened by angle members 4, one end of each tie rod 3 is threaded for engagement with' the threaded boss 7 of a cover-plate 6 which, after adjustment, is secured against a sealing washer 14 by studs &c. 15 which pass through a ring 11 riveted &c. to the tank end and provided with threaded bosses or welded nuts 12; the tank end may be recessed to receive the cover-plate. The other end of each tie rod may be similarly secured or may be fixed to the other end of the tank before or after said end is welded to the body.
