In a flange 8 having an internally screwed spigot 4 thereon and of the kind used for the attachment of fitments, e.g. an electric immersion heater 5, to the walls of closed cylinders or tanks, a double V-shape slot 7 is cut in the flange and spigot parallel to the axis thereof to facilitate their passage through an aperture 11 of less diameter than that of the flange and formed in the wall of a cylinder or tank 6. The flange is secured to the inner face of the cylinder or tank wall by screws 10.
