585,486. Strainers; wire fabrics. BRACKETT & CO., Ltd., F. W., and DALBY, R. C. C. Oct. 31, 1944, No. 21240. [Classes 45 and 46] [Also in Group XXII] Water-screening fabric is formed of spaced metal rod in layers crossing each other and being spotwelded at the junctions, the width of each of the openings between the rods in each layer being greater than that of the rod, and the rod on at least one of the layers is deeper than it is wide, and/or the rod in one of the layers is deeper than in the other or others. In the construction shown, a screening panel for incorporation in an endlessband type screen comprises vertical rods 10 spot-welded and horizontal rods 11. No rods 10 which are deeper than the rods 1 are welded to members 12, 13 which are adapted to be connected to ladder bars of the screen. The rod in section is preferably rectangular but it may be tapered towards the clean-water side of the screen. A shelf 14 for lifting detritus is secured to the fabric by nuts and studs. The ends of the shelf are fitted with plates 16 formed with holes 17 to take screws whereby the panel is secured to links of the side chains. The fabric may be similarly arranged on a rotary screen.
