Abstract

173,511. Jacquelin, A. Dec. 28, 1920, [Contention date]. Sieves and screens, forms and construction of. -Sieves or riddles for sifting minerals, coal, &c. are constructed from a continuous steel wire wound round a frame and stretched by the extension of the frame, the upper wires being arranged in one or more planes and the lower ones secured in bundles. The frame consists of round steel bars 2 connected bv stretcher bolts 3 and formed with upper and lower notches 5, 6 adapted to receive respectively single wires 7 and two or more wires 8, the lower ones being bound in bundles by wire ties 9. In a modification. the upper notches 5 may be of different depths to cause the grid wires 7 to lie in more than one plane. In constructing the sieve the end of the wire is fixed by a bolt 4 provided with operating and lock-nuts. The front of the sieve is provided with a curved metal sheet 10.
