Abstract
584,347. Electromagnetic relays. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Nov. 17, 1944, No. 22903. Convention date, Nov. 18, 1943. [Class 38 (v)] In a polarized electromagnetic relay comprising an electromagnet M and a permanent magnet P with a common yoke 0, the electromagnetic flux branches to two air gaps, over which the permanent magnet flux passes. Situated in the air gaps are two armatures A<1> and A' interconnected by non-magnetic material and pivoted about an axis V. The electromagnetic flux aids the permanent magnet flux at one air gap and opposes it at the other causing movement of the armature, which is transferred to spring assemblies by means of. needles mounted in holes H' and H<2>, which also serve to keep the armature in a neutral position. Shifting the permanent magnet so that the air gaps are unequal, causes the armature to act upon one of the spring assemblies when the electromagnet is de-energized, and alternate to the other on energizing. Fig. 5 shows an alternative layout, the spring assemblies in this case being replaced by rigid contact needles F<1> and F' and contact springs in the armature A'.
