[Class 38 (v)] A gas - blast circuit - breaker in column form with multiple series connected points of interruption and parallel impedances for controlling the distribution of voltage over the points of interruption, has its extinguishing chambers, impedance supports, and supporting insulator built up of insulating sections having the same length but different internal diameters. This enables the same insulating section to be used for building up different parts of circuit - breakers of various sizes, thus reducing the number of sizes that have to be kept in stock. Thus in. Fig. 1 the extinguishing chambers a<1>-a<5>, the impedance supports b<1>-b<5>, and the support c<1>-c<5> are composed of insulators of sizes A, B, C, of the same length but of internal diameter to suit the requirements. The insulator sections e, of anv bracing member that may be required, are solid. The fixing heads of all the insulators may be the same so that standard fittings may be used. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the stock keeping may be further simplified by the use of only one insulator and insertion pieces of the bore required. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
