928,221. Switchgear structures. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. Oct. 16, 1959 [Oct. 23, 1958], No. 34000/58. Class 38 (5). A high-voltage bus-bar installation includes a rotatably-mounted bus-bar section 50 positioned in a gap between two spaced sections of a run of bus-bar, the section 50 constituting a switching device operable to interconnect the spaced sections or to isolate them from one another. The section 50 comprises an elongated bushing formed with a curve or angle in its length and supported at an intermediate part 52 by a bearing 54 permitting rotation of the bushing about an axis parallel to the general direction of the bus-bar run, both ends of the bushing being radially-spaced from the bearing axis. The ends of a conductor embedded in the bushing form, or carry, switch contacts which co-operate with fixed contacts 56 connected to the spaced sections or with fixed earthing contacts 57. In the arrangement shown, each bus-bar section is formed by a rotatably mounted bushing. The Provisional Specification also describes an arrangement in which a rotatable bushing similar to that described above is used as a by-pass switch for the circuit breaker of Specification 886,290, or for a vertically-withdrawable circuit-breaker.
