Abstract

582,882. Barometric gauges. LONDON, R. C., and ANDERSON, E. F. March 16, 1945, No. 6740. [Class 106 (ii)] A warning apparatus for use in connection with the oxygen supply in aircraft comprises a Bourdon tube 3 which is connected to an oxygen supply system and an aneroid capsule 10 sensitive to air pressure. When the oxygen pressure falls below a predetermined value a spring contact 7 moves into engagement with an adjustable spring contact 8 thereby partially completing the electric circuit controlling the warning device. A pin 11 on the aneroid capsule abuts the spring contact 12 which engages the adjustable contact 13 when the atmospheric pressure falls thus partially completing the electric circuit. If the air pressure falls beneath a predetermined level and the oxygen supply is insufficient the warning device operates. Contact 20 permits the circuit to be tested when the plane is on the ground.
