Abstract

580,363. Luminescent materials. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., McKEAG, A. H., and RANBY, P. W. Aug. 6, 1943, No. 12766. [Class 39 (i)] A luminescent material of the matrix activator type comprises a halo-phosphate in which the bivalent metals are mainly alkaline earth metals and at least part of the activator is tin or lead or both. The material may be prepared by heating calcium phosphate, calcium chloride, lead phosphate and small proportions of manganese phosphate and ammonium fluoride at 1100‹ C. for one half hour. Proportions are given. The Lead phosphate may be replaced by stannous phosphate and the calcium salts may be replaced by strontium. Specification 578,192 is referred to.
