Abstract

118,701. Crowell, W. S. Sept. 26, 1917. Metallic-oxide cements.-Silver salts are incorporated with dental cements for tooth-stopping or for setting crowns &c. so as to exert antiseptic &c. effects and to prevent the recurrence of decay. Silver phosphate may be mixed with the powder of an ordinary zinc oxyphosphate cement, or the phosphate, carbonate, oxide, or other salt of silver may be dissolved in the phosphoric acid solution with which the cement powder is mixed for use. This solution may also contain zinc phosphate, aluminium phosphate, and sodium phosphate. In place of silver phosphate, other salts such as borate, silicate, chloride, bromide, or iodide may be employed.
