Abstract

691,539. Luminescent materials. THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 23, 1951 [Aug. 12, 1950], No. 20072/50. Class 39(i). The rare earth element samarium is incorporated as an activator in a halo-phosphate luminescent material in a proportion at least 0.01 per cent and not more than 5 per cent. Calcium monohydrogen phosphate, calcium carbonate, calcium fluoride, antimony oxide, manganese chloride tetrahydrate and samarium oxide are heated at 1050‹C, cooled and reheated at 1150‹C. In another material aluminium oxide and calcium carbonate are also included. Specification 645,723 is referred to.
