746,273. Luminescent material. THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 29, 1952 [Sept. 4, 1951], No. 20891/51. Class 39 (1). A luminescent material comprises the pyrophosphate of calcium or strontium or both activated by cerium in the ceric state with manganese as an additional activator, the ratio of calcium and strontium oxide to phosphorus pentoxide being 2 to 1.4-0.9. A lithium compound (up to 10 per cent) may be added in the preparation of the matrix. Specifications 512,154, 609,711, 746,271 and 746,272 are referred to.
