Abstract

580,070. Making foam. PYRENE.CO., Ltd. May 9, 1944, No. 8823. [Class 47 (ii)] A foam-stabilizer for producing a fireextinguishing foam with hard water comprises at least one sulphonated organic foaming agent and at least one water-soluble salt of an organic polycarboxylic acid containing at least three carboxyl groups. Examples of foaming agents are sodium, magnesium or ethanolamine lauryl sulphate, sodium stearyl sulphate, sodium or calcium oleyl sulphate, sodium octyl sulphate and ethanolamine myristal sulphate. Examples of salts are triethanolamine, ethylene diamine and amylamine acetyl citrates and the salts of aconitic, tricarballylic and mellitic acids. The foaming agents may include various metallic derivatives.
