Abstract

579,413. Spray-producers. POWER JETS, Ltd., HAWTHORNE, W. R., JOYCE, J. R., and ANGLO-SAXON PETROLEUM CO., Ltd. Aug. 29, 1941, No. 11081. [Class 69 (iii)] In order to test the distribution of the output of a jet or nozzle, the latter is mounted in relation to receivers which are constituted to enable measurement of the quantities simultaneously collected therein. The nozzle 8 to be tested is mounted in a lid 10 coaxially with a container 9 and mounted within the container 9 is a member subdivided in a series of receivers 11, each having a drain communicating by conduits 12, 12A with a spout 12B. The spouts are arranged as a gang on a slidable rod 13 above a corresponding number of measuring receptacles or burettes 14 which may empty, by cocks or by up-ending, into a tray 3 which discharges into a tank 2 whence the spray liquid may be pumped through conduit 7 to the spray nozzle. To operate, the spouts 12B are moved so as to miss the burettes and the spray started and when the spray has had sufficient time to attain its full delivery, the spouts 12B are brought over to discharge into the burettes 14 for a definite length of time. The measure of liquid in the individual burettes will determine the symmetrical distribution or otherwise of the spray liquid in the area of the spray.
