579,038. Signalling by visible signals. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., DAVIES, L. J., and BOURNE, H. K. Oct. 18, 1938, No. 30148. Drawings to Specification. [Class 118 (ii)] A signalling apparatus, particularly suitable for mast-head signalling, comprises a number of electric discharge lamps provided with shutters, as described in Specification 579,034, the circuits of all the lamps being connected in parallel and operated in synchronism from a single tapping key. Each lamp is connected to the supply mains through a choke part of which can be short-circuited, as described in the earlier Specification by a relay, and all the relays are operated simultaneously by a single tapping key. Resistances are used instead of chokes when direct current is used.
