Abstract
579,005. Coating yarns &c. AMERICAN VISCOSE CORPORATION. Dec. 14, 1943, No. 20920. Convention date, May 3, 1943. [Class 140] Filamentary material such as yarn, ribbon or strip is coated with liquid material while passing through an annular gap of capillary magnitude formed between annular surfaces 6, 7 on two rings or discs 3, 4 mounted for rotation as a unit on a common shaft 2. The discs may be partly submerged in the coating liquid in a receptacle 11 and the yarn guided through an unsubmerged portion of the gap. Alternatively the coating liquid may be supplied to the gap by a disc fitting slidably within the gap and dipping into the coating liquid. The discs may be idlers rotated by contact with the travelling yarn, or may be driven at constant speed.. Filaments, yarns, cords, cables, strips or ribbons of textile materials, or of wire, paper natural or synthetic rubber may be coated with lubricants, sizes, conditioning materials, insulating, decorative or protective coatings.
