615,162. Coating yarns. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. July 30, 1946, No. 22677. Convention date, July 31, 1945. [Class 140] Apparatus for applying liquids to yarns or threads consists of a liquid container 3, a cover 4 with two slots 6 and 8 for yarn entry and exit, and mounted on the cover yarn guides 7, 9, 11, 12, 30 for running yarn into and from the liquid in the container, and attached to the cover within the container a rod 10 carrying a plate 17 supporting a pair of flexible members 24, 25 pivoted at 21 which are pressed against each other and the yarn to remove excess liquid from it. The flexible members may be pressed together by means of a spring 26. In a modification, the weight of the two flexible members suitably pivoted is used to provide pressure on the yarn.
