Abstract

578,701. Lamp caps and holders. NORDEN, K. Feb. 4, 1944, No. 2118. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1943. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A lampholder for tubular fluorescent lamps consists of a socket 1 into which one end of the lamp is inserted, the outside of the socket having a perforated lug or lugs 2 projecting from its base, by means of which two or more similar lampholders may be secured together in horizontal positions by a bolt to form a variety of lamp assemblies. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the lugs 2 are secured together by a bolt on the base of a stirrup 3 and a nut 4, the stirrup serving as an attachment for the supply leads or chains &c. which support the lamps. The leads enter the holder through holes 5 in the base 6 and are secured to split tubular sockets 7, Fig. 2, mounted thereon, these latter receiving the contact pins on the lamp base which may be held in the socket by set screws 9 engaging a circular groove on the lamp base. Fig. 4 shows a perforated junction ring 10 to which radially-disposed lamps may be fastened by links 11 having two holes for receiving locking screws. A starter is shown in Fig. 5, which may be secured to one of the lugs or to the ring 10 by means of the perforated strip 13. Specification 557,154, [Group XI], is referred to.
