Abstract

578,688. Hand trucks. DONALD, J. M. Sept. 5, 1944, No. 16903. [Class 108 (i)] A barrel, box or bale is secured to a truck by a clamping device comprising a flexible band g secured to the sides f of the truck and straddling the barrel and a screw clamp a forced against the underside of the barrel by a screw c mounted in a transverse bar d joining the sides of the truck. The band g is adjustable within the limits of bolt holes g<1> on one side of the truck and keyholes g<2> on the other and the clamp a is guided on the transverse bar d by guides e. The barrel can be secured in place on the truck without necessitating the use of end plates or abutments. The Provisional Specification states that the band may be adjusted by a screw and nut with or without the intervention of a compression spring. Specification 571,711 is referred to.
