Abstract

537,442. Toy-building blocks. NICOLLS, Ltd., L. J., and NEWBERY, A. L. Jan. 29, 1940, No. 1768. [Class 132 (iii)] A set of toy-building units comprises a base member, a plurality of blocks &c. and means associated with the base member to clamp the blocks &c. firmly together to form a toy. The base of the toy is formed from a piece of wood mounted on wheels and provided with spaced holes preferably along the centre line. At one end of the base is a post 8 through which passes a screw 9. Variously-shaped blocks to form a toy such as a lorry, Fig. 7, are assembled on the base and secured together by split cotter pins. Similar pins may be passed into the holes in the base and form abutments against which the blocks are clamped by screwing up the screw 9 in the post 8. A container r for the blocks provided with a sliding lid s is provided with holes in the bottom through which split pins may be passed so that the container may form part of a lorry. Blocks o provided with two wheels may afford additional axles for the vehicle. Flat plates furnished with pin holes and cylindrical pieces of two diameters also form part of the set.
