Abstract
492,481. Measures of capacity. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T., and JONES, W. July 30, 1937, No. 21100. [Class 106 (v)] A measure suitable for use in calibrating the capacity of vehicles transporting sand ballast comprises two or more parts 6, 7 capable of being locked together in superimposed relationship and a detachable bottom 12, the upper part or parts carrying a plate 15 which obscures the capacity marking on the next lower part. The part 7 is secured to the bottom 12 and the part 6 to the part 7 by pivoted bolts 13, 8 carrying wing-nuts 14, 9. The bolts and the jawed lugs 11 with which the bolts engage may be arranged so as to be out of alignment if the parts are incorrectly assembled, or the jawed lugs may project downwardly below the framework of the part 6, while the lugs to which the bolts 13 are pivoted on the bottom 12 project upwardly. The upper parts are provided on their rear faces with plates 16 which with the plate 15 form feet on which the parts rest when disassembled. In a modification, the parts are secured together by sliding bolts.
