[Class 35] [Also in Group XXII] A field pole is formed by bending a strip or bar so that two thicknesses thereof constitute the pole core which has at least one laterally extending pole tip. In the form shown, the strip is bent about a bar to provide a slot 6 to reduce cross flux, or, alternatively the two portions forming the pole core may be in contact, the slot 6 then being cut by milling, or being omitted.
