[Class 28 (ii)] In a slicing-machine as described in Specification 565,819 in which a block of food &c, in a sliding holder 12 is reciprocated by hand against a rotating disc knife 10 and the slices fall on a tray 16 which also reciprocates with the holder 12, the tray 16 is carried on the outer part of a two-part carrier arm 18 so that the outer part with the tray can be quickly detached and removed to allow such articles as cabbages to be cut. Figs. 10 and 11 show the connection joining the two parts of the arm 18 together in which a dowel pin 61 engages in a recess 62, and a keeper pin 60 engages a latch hook 59, by rotation of one part relative to the other. A spring pressed auxiliary latch 63 engages the top of the hooked latch 59 to prevent accidental release. A finger trigger 64 of the latch 63 allows release so that the outer arm can be rotated to unlatch it from the arm 18 to remove the tray 16 &c. The arm 18 is mounted on a hanger 20. Fig. 1, slidable on shafts 13 and 14 and reciprocated by hand and carrying the food holder 12 and the slice receiving tray 16. As the tray 16 descends step by step one thickness at a time as in Specification 565,819. the tray is maintained level by the pantograph mechanism comprising the flange 54, Fig. 1, of the tray holder which abuts against a rod 55 while its under part is being pulled by a spring 67. The tray is adjusted level by a screw 66 moving the auxiliary rod 65 abutting against the rod 55. Specification 577,558 also is referred to.
