577,437. Gilled tubes &c. for heat-exchangers. THORNTON, A. A. (Brown Fintube Co.). Feb. 29, 1944, No. 3757. [Class 64 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] A heat exchange member such as a tube 50 has secured to it a hollow fin comprising a base portion 55, 58 from which extend flanges 56, 60, joined together at their outer edges 66, 67, and a heat-conducting member 57, 59 extending within the fin from the tip to the base portion. Each fin is made of two channel-shaped members secured to the tube or other member with their adjacent flanges 57, 59 in contact, and the outer flanges 56, 60 are bent in towards the inner flanges and welded to them (see Group XXII). Specifications 554,813, [Group XXII], and 554,815 are referred to.
