Abstract
577,254. Delivering materials from hoppers; screw conveyers. WARD, F. H. ALLMAN-. April 28, 1944, No. 7962. Addition to 556,720. [Class 78 (i)] The construction described in the parent Specification is modified by providing means for rocking the hopper. The hopper 1, Fig. 1, is pivoted at 2 to fixed supports 3 and is connected by a rod 12 to the conical crank pin 11 of a crank.10 which is fixed on the end of the worm shaft 9. The rod is provided with a counterweight 15 and is connected by a chain 16 to one arm of a bell-crank lever 17 which is pivoted on one of the supports 3. The lever 17 is actuated manually, or automatically by a thermostat as described in the parent Specification, to vary the effective stroke of the crank. The feeder plate 5 is stationary and may be curved to an arc concentric with the pivot 2. It has a forked end 18 which extends over the inlet 35 to the worm casing. In a modification, Fig. 5, an additional crank pin 27 on the worm shaft is connected by a rod 28 to a pivoted arm 29. An arcuate rod 30 attached to the arm 29 is engaged by a link 31 which is pivoted to the arm 32 of a bell-crank lever. The arm 33 of this lever is pivoted to the feeder plate 5 which is supported by a pivoted link 34. In a further modification, Fig. 4, the pin 11 is replaced by a pin 19 which engages a slot 20 in a lever 21. This lever is pivoted at 22 and has an extension in the form of a curved rod 24 which is connected to the hopper by a link 26. Specification 576,292 is referred to.
