Abstract

Compounds of the formula <FORM:0576890/IV/1> wherein R is an aralkyl or aryl group which may be substituted or unsubstituted are prepared by reacting an isothiocyanate containing the group R with sodio-acetoacetic ester and treating the product with hydroxylamine. Compounds specified are 3-phenylamino-5-isoxazolone, 3-p-ethoxyphenylamino-5-isoxazolone, 3 - p - chlorophenylamino - 5 - isoxazolone, 3 - a - naphthylamino - 5 - isoxazolone, 3 - benzyl - amino - 5 - isoxazolone, and 3 : 31 - diphenyl - amino-bis-5-isoxazolone. Acyl derivatives, e.g. the acetyl and p-toluenesulphonyl derivatives, of compounds of the general formula are prepared by reaction with the appropriate acid chloride or anhydride in pyridine solution.
