Abstract

Dibenzoxazolyl-ethylene compounds of the general formula <FORM:0920753/IV(a)/1> in which A is a benzene nucleus which may be substituted by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or chlorine and which is attached by two adjacent carbon atoms to the oxazole ring, are prepared by treating at elevated temperature a corresponding acyl compound of the general formula <FORM:0920753/IV(a)/2> with a phosphoric acid of formula Hn + 2PnO3n + 1 in which n is greater than 1. The preferred temperature for carrying out the process is in the range 140-200 DEG C.
