[Class 60] [Also in Group XXXV] A magnetic work-holder in the form of a block comprises a permanent magnet completely or partially enclosed by a series of high permeability plates separated by non-magnetic spacing members, all lying in a plane transversely to the magnetic axis, the endmost members enclosing and contacting the ends of the magnet. The magnet I is enclosed by soft iron laminations 2 and 4 and non-magnetic laminations 3 bolted, together With end plates 5, by non-magnetic bolts 6, the whole forming a compact rectangular block with four workholding surfaces.
