Abstract
593,939. Magnetic work holders. AKTIEBOLAGET SLIPMATERIAL - NAXOS. June 20, 1945, Nos. 15740 and 15741. Convention dates, June 16, 1944, and Feb. 1, 1945. [Class 60] [Also in Group XXXV] A magnetic work-holder comprises a pole-plate, at the rear of which, permanent horseshoe-type magnets are mounted to be rotatable in their own plane so as to bring their poles towards or away from the rear face of the poleplate. Horseshoe-type magnets 5, Fig. 2, preferably formed from split circular discs, are rotatable on eccentric shafts 3, so that in the operative position the N and S poles contact polepieces 14, 12 respectively and in the inoperative position the poles contact a keeper formed by a base-plate 1. In a modification, three poled magnets are used with outer legs 51, 53, Fig. 5, of low permeability, and an inner leg 52, of high permeability, soldered together and having air gaps 61 filled with solder. The length of the outer legs is preferably three or four times their width. In a further embodiment, four poled magnets are used. Specification 429,199 is referred to.
