Abstract
576,443. Two-part couplings ; lamp-holders. LAPCO SOC. ANON. Jan. 31, 1941, No. 1317. Convention date, Sept. 28, 1939. [Class 38 (i)] A coupling is built up of a sleeve 9 enclosing an insulating body 10 carrying the contacts 1<1>, 1<2>, a ring 8 soldered to the metallic armouring of the cable 16, and a hollow nut 11 locked to the ring 8 by a locknut 14, and screwed to the sleeve 9. A shoulder 111 abuts on an insulating base 2 that encloses the joint between the leads 5<1>, 5<2> and the contacts 1<1>, 1<2> and holds it and the body 10 in the sleeve 9 and spaces this assembly from the ring 8 so as to prevent buckling of the leads 51, 5<2>. The contacts 1<1>, 1<2>, may be sockets, lampholder contacts or of other form according to the purpose for which the coupling is used. A packing ring 13 held in position by a nut 12 prevents oil that may have seeped between rubber sheath and metallic sheath from entering the coupling device.
